š§Ŗ Freedom Formulas
This section is called āFreedom Formulasā, so today I wanted to talk about the type of freedom Iāve been so freakinā grateful for over the past few weeks.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know itās been a little more quiet there because over the summer, three family members were in the hospital, two with very serious conditions.
2.5 weeks ago, I flew home to Germany as one family memberās condition was seriously declining.
As of today, weāre still hoping they will be able to recover but everything is still very much up in the air.
But I am so immensely grateful that I am now in a financial position where I can book a flight to leave the next day, fly back to New York to weeks later, only to return to Germany 5 days later and put basically everything in life on pause without having to worry about paying my bills.
(and you know those NYC rents are NOT cheap.)
That is true luxury.
Spending the money does not matter. At all.
Being able to support my family with everyday expenses (groceries, takeout, small luxuries) not because I have to but because I can means everything.
Iām also luck that Iām working on a team with a strong ālife comes firstā culture.
I hit my sales quota 3 weeks ago, so nobody is adding any pressure right now. I can be 100% reactive at the moment and itās still enough.
And even if I was working for a shitty company, I have enough money where I could just walk away and be fine without working for 6-12 months.
Lastly, having a supportive partner who supports any and all decisions I make who can also help out financially in addition to being there emotionally, has been a true gift.
Iām sharing this with you because while I do want you to have all the conventional luxuries in life, more importantly, I want you to be in a position where you can say no, enforce boundaries and worst case, walk away when people, jobs, or other environments no longer serve you and your loved ones.
Sometimes that does mean being a little more patient until youāre at a point financially where you can say F U and walk away.
But trust me, as someone whoās had a really challenging year overall, my financial stability has been a saving grace.
And if me sharing this very personal story with you is leading to you negotiating a job offer, asking for a raise, or putting more money in savings and investments, then it was already so so worth it.
