🧪 Freedom Formulas

Last year, I flew my mom to Kenya.

(If you’ve been around for a while, you know this already but I’m sharing this story again for a reason.)

A safari vacation, the one she'd talked about for a long time, the trip that lived in the "someday" folder for YEARS. Watching her there, in the place she'd only ever dreamed about, I knew: This is the best money I’ve ever spent.

Most people build a life by accident. They optimize the job, the title, the next level, and try to cram a life into whatever hours are left over.

That's backwards.

The women who feel free do the opposite: they design the life first, around freedom and how they actually want to live, and make everything else negotiate around it.

I'm not writing this from the finish line. I'm somewhere in the middle, further than I ever thought I'd get, nowhere near where I'm going.

And that's exactly the point: you don't wait until you've "made it" to start designing. You design now, and you let the vision pull you forward.

My vision: I want a full month off every summer, in a farmhouse in Tuscany with enough room that anyone I love can come; my family, my friends, for a week or the whole month. I want another full month off over Christmas in a chalet in the Alps: skiing all day, then coming back to fondue by the fire. I want more safaris. I want Antarctica, one day, a trip that used to sound insane to even consider, and now is something I could already afford.

Your job isn't your identity. It's the engine.

Impact matters. Purpose matters. The community you build matters. But the title? The title is the least interesting thing your job gives you. What it enables, that's the whole game.

So this is your gentle nudge to ask yourself the real questions, the ones we skip while we're busy climbing:

What do you want a random Tuesday to feel like? What do you want your year to hold? And which moments, when you're old and looking back, are actually going to matter?

Measure wealth in options, not status.

A title tells you where you rank.

Optionality tells you how free you are.

💸 Cooking up Wealth

In the last edition, I talked about how corporate is not always the enemy. Underused compensation is. This is a continuation of that conversation.

You were told to get the degree, land the coveted corporate job, earn well, and then life would feel free.

And maybe, on paper, it worked.

You have the salary. The benefits. Maybe equity. Maybe a beautiful life your younger self would be proud of.

But now you’re looking around at entrepreneurship, pivots, sabbaticals, creative careers, and women “betting on themselves” online, and you’re wondering:

Is this job still building my freedom, or just making the golden handcuffs more comfortable?

But here is what many people don’t realize:

You may not need to leave immediately. Or at all.

Instead, you may need to understand what your existing compensation package is already giving you, and where you may be leaving money, leverage, or future options on the table.

Which is why I created a free audit guide for you that I titled “The Golden Handcuffs Diagnostic”, which I’m sharing with you today first before posting it on social in a few weeks.

Open your benefits portal, equity portal, or compensation documents.

Set a timer for 10 minutes.

You are not trying to solve everything today.

You are looking for the one hidden lever to check first.

Let me know what you think and if this is helpful.

In abundance,

Please note that I may receive commissions for some but not all my recommendations. I will never recommend something I don’t actually genuinely believe in or haven’t used myself.
